About Me

I am currently Engineering Director at Abnormal AI, where I own product and engineering for the company's identity security portfolio — including Account Takeover (ATO) detection, Email Security Posture Management and new identity security products currently in development. My work sits at the intersection of behavioural AI and identity risk, building the systems that detect when an account has been compromised before damage is done, and subsequently prevent reoccurrence.
Before Abnormal, I was a Senior Engineering Leader at Lacework (acquired by Fortinet), where I built and scaled the Vulnerability Management, CSPM, and KSPM product lines — ultimately unifying them into the company's flagship CNAPP offering.
Prior to Lacework, I worked extensively on SOAR and SIEM product capabilities at Splunk, alongside deep feature development and low-level optimisation of Splunk's flagship product (Splunk Enterprise). Earlier in my career, I spent almost a decade at Citrix, where I developed deep expertise in low-level source code analysis at the hypervisor level — work that would later underpin the majority of Amazon Web Services. I was a key contributor to building one of the largest Microsoft Azure-hosted cloud environments during the on-premise to cloud migration era, including the security services layer that sat on top — collectively serving over 400 million users worldwide. I'm actively involved in (and passionate about) developing multiple industry security standards. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Security.
Outside of work, random things that I find interesting:
Cold-blooded horses (in particular, those of cob type)
Tax efficiency (UK tax code has 22,000 pages)
Travelling (with my wife)
Welsh (and my) history
Anything vintage or hand-made (provenance matters)
Sea fish (the activity, and the food)
